There are several factors to consider when choosing a portable air conditioner. The starting point is cooling capacity (measured in BTUs or kW), which should always match the size of the room you want to cool. Other factors include energy efficiency, noise level, additional features such as programmable timers and remote control, and the overall build quality and reliability of the unit. The cooling power is measured in BTUs (British Thermal Units) or in KiloWatts. As a general guideline, the choice of BTUs and kWs must be based primarily on room size: higher BTU ratings and higher kW for larger rooms and lower ratings for smaller spaces. However, it’s important to note that other factors, such as insulation and heat sources, can influence the cooling requirements.
For rooms up to 85m3 you can choose an element with around 9000 BTU or 2 – 2,5 kW. For bigger spaces, up to 100m3, better to choose units from 9000 to 12000 BTUs (2,6 to 3 kW). Some of Delonghi most powerful units can reach up to 13000 BTUs (3,3 kW) and are suitable for areas bigger than 120m3.
